I will daughter you
follow you
wherever you may go
though ties may now be broken
love will not have it so
I will daughter you.
*
You won’t be alone
I’ll come too
however hard the road
together we will walk it
we’ll share the heavy load
I will daughter you.
*
Never take my freedom from me
by sending me away
though they make of me a stranger
where I make my bed is where I will lay.
*
If the night is cold
dark and long
my love will make you warm
and light the empty spaces
until the morning come
I will daughter you.
*
Follow you
I will daughter you.

Oh, my heavens! This is so wonderful ~ so poignant and so true. With my mom in Missouri for a bit longer (and me missing her more than I imagined I would!) it brought just a tear or two. It is lovely, lovely…….
And, I might add – wonderfully original!
Linda
Linda I have been thinking of you, I read your latest post but thought not to comment [sometimes I'm brash] I knew you were in some kind of strain. Thanks, sometimes something seems really good to me but you only know if it touches someone else the same way. God bless you [and mum, i'm glad she's enjoying herself a bit] take care. luv Suz
That. Is. Amazing.
Wow.

Wow. This is so good! I love it. One of your best, IMHO.
Do you know BG, I really wondered how you might feel about it-you being representative of a definite non-daughter sort-I’m everso pleased you like it. luv Suz

It reminded of a story from the bible.
I hate owning up
There is nothing new under the sun but there are lots of old things we don’t know.
Ambrose Bierce, The Devil’s Dictionary
If I had a daughter, I would never cease to love and embrace her whether she be 6 hours or 60 years old it would not matter to me. Your father should be very proud indeed, to have a daughter like you.
